Examine Your Heart

Listen to Pastor Jonathan Woolner speak on Sunday, September 4th.

Times of change are a great time for self-inventory. Adam and Eve blamed each other for their problems. Let’s not do the same.

Matthew 7:6

Discern the difference between what you can control and what you can’t control. Worry is lethal to thriving. Worry separates you from thriving in the present.

Matthew 5-7

The progression of the sermon on the mount goes from worrying to judging. This is a sequential set of teachings that are not arbitrary or random.

If we do not entrust the things that we worry about to God, we will spend a huge amount of time trying to control others. You can’t control people, places, or things. Be ruthless in examining your heart. Give without strings attached. What is keeping you from facing you? Entrust the situation you can’t control into God’s loving care. This is His church, we entrust it into God’s loving care.

Go

Listen to Pastor Jonathan Woolner speak on Sunday, August 28th about tribes, from a biblical perspective. Let’s stay in the hands of Jesus. God is doing something here. We are all in this together. Lean into the heart of Jesus.

Genesis 12:1-9

Abram is called to go, and he went. He was told he would be a blessing to all other nations. We are called to be a light and a blessing to the world, not just to preserve our own tribe.

Matthew 5:13-15

We are called to be salt and light to the world.

God’s Redeeming Love

Listen To Jonathan Woolner describe the point of the story of Jonah and the fish on Sunday, August 7th. Many Old Testament stories are weird and have unexpected twists that challenge our presuppositions that we are the good guys and they are the bad guys. We are challenged to love our enemies and know that God wants to redeem us all.
