Listen to Pastor Steve Hoden speak about Esther, starting our with a reference about Moses in a battle:

Moses held up a staff in his hands and the Israelites were winning when the staff stayed raised, and the Amalekites started winning when the staff was lowered. Aaron and Hur helped him hold the staff up all day, and they won the battle.

Mordecai reported a secret plot of 2 officials planning to assassinate the king. The plot was investigated and found to be true. Esther and Mordecai planned to approach Xerxes to reverse the law made by Haman (a descendant of the Amalekites) to annihilate the Jews.

Deuteronomy 25:17

An ancient wound is now reopened.

Esther 3:2

Mordecai refused to kneel before Haman. Haman wanted not to only take it out on Mordecai, but on all of his people.

We need courage to act on the convictions that our faith leads us to. Ready or not, we will be confronted with decisions that need to be made in life. We don’t always realize these moments at the time. Trust God in situations that put us just where He wants us to be, even though they may seem like delays or inconveniences at the time.

Prayer: Courage, strength and a will to act, even when we don’t feel it.

Closing Blessing: Joshua had to make decisions without Moses around, so God told him to

“Be strong and very courageous. Be careful to obey all the law my servant Moses gave you; do not turn from it to the right or to the left, that you may be successful wherever you go. Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful. Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”-Joshua 1:7-9 (NIV)
